The Galaxy A02s is getting a new firmware update in the US, and although it’s coming a bit late, it’s a big update. The Galaxy A02s is getting Android 12 in the US, four months late. Rollout to other markets began in July, and the US is just catching up with the rest of the world.
While we’re celebrating the release of Android 13 for many more Galaxy phones and tablets, the Galaxy A02 in the US is only now getting Android 12. That’s better than nothing, but it does point out that some of the lower end phones Samsung’s range do not. It doesn’t get nearly as much attention as its mid-range and flagship devices. Especially in the United States.
Android 12 update for Galaxy A02 should include One UI version 4.1. The package has a firmware number A025VSQU2CVJ1 and comes with the September 2022 security patch, which Samsung detailed a few months ago. Of course, the best part is One UI 4.1, especially since the Galaxy A02s isn’t eligible for a third major OS update. Android 12 is the last big update for the Galaxy A02s, and the device will not get Android 13 and One UI 5.0.
Galaxy A02 users in the US who want to do away with Android 11 should now be able to download Android 12 and One UI 4.1 via the Settings app on their phones once they access “Software update” and press “Download and install.” We also offer official firmware files on our website for Galaxy A02 users who prefer manual updates.
