Samsung and MediaTek have built the world’s first 8K Wi-Fi TV – Gizmochina


Samsung and MediaTek just introduced the world’s first QLED 8K TV that also supports Wi-Fi 6 standards earlier today (March 9, 2020). The Samsung 8K QLED Y20 (Q950, Q900) model supports the new Wi-Fi standard and is equipped with MediaTek’s custom Wi-Fi 6 chipset.

The TV is the latest flagship from the South Korean tech giant and is currently the only Wi-Fi 6 connectivity available in the world that supports TV. In other words, the Samsung 8K QLED Y20 could potentially offer a better view of multimedia consumption through better connectivity, providing a smoother overall experience.

For those who don’t know, Wi-Fi 6 is the latest standard in wireless loyalty. Its improvements over previous generations offer higher transmission speeds while saving energy. In other words, technology is essential to make the 8K streaming experience much more transparent. Just for the high bit rate, you would need an improved receiver in addition to a simple fast internet, this is where Wi-Fi 6 comes in.

Simply put, the collaboration of the well-known chip maker with the consumer electronics giant is striving to bring a new standard in media consumption. The former is known for its Wi-Fi 6 chips found in smart TVs and routers, which hold market share number 1.
