Speaking on the Capsule in Conversation podcast, Samia recalled, “ My first week of ice dancing, I weighed just under seven stones. I couldn’t eat anything.
“ Sylvian used to give me donuts for a little sugar because my anxiety was so bad.
“ I couldn’t sleep, I was running empty for the first few weeks because I was very nervous. ”
“Don’t worry too much, relax. I have spent my whole life worrying, I had anxiety about being a child, I was literally born worried.

Samia was eliminated in week eight of the competition, losing in the preliminary session with boxer Luke Campbell.
The Coronation Street star, who plays Maria Conner on the soap opera, has been open about her battle with anxiety in the past.
However, Samia found the coronavirus lockdown manageable as it removed the pressure of attending social events.
She explained, “ Actually this period has been OK for me. I have always preferred an evening to an evening. It takes a lot to get me out to a party, so I was fine with staying home.

“ But the biggest impact was on my anxiety, which I really, really struggled with for a long time.
“ I found it was finally made easier while being locked down. I have had social anxiety most of my life, which has been very difficult.
“ But I have found that now everyone has had to slow down and I don’t have that pressure to attend social events. The bustle of life has risen.
“I’ve tried things for years to help and some of them have been good. I do yoga every day and did an anxiety webinar yesterday with a clinical psychologist, but this time has really helped me.

“ I hope that by talking about it, maybe I can assure others that this is normal too, and that it is something that you can handle.
“ Although I now go to the supermarket with a mask and gloves on, so it’s a different kind of anxiety. ”
Samia is the mother of son Yves, five, with Sylvain and her daughter Freya, 11, from a previous relationship and tells how, despite her years in the public eye, she wants her children to have a normal education.
She said: ‘I want my children to have as normal an education as possible. I’ve never been to showbizzy parties and events. I like to stay grounded and this could all end tomorrow.
“ I don’t want my life to revolve around the events of showbiz for it all to end. My filming schedule is very busy but when there is downtime, what I have outside is real.
“Our best friends are not famous and the novelty of what I do for a living has totally worn off.
