The film, which documents Reggiani’s plot to murder her ex-husband, is based on the novel The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamor, and Greed by author Sara Gay Forden.
Patrizia, nicknamed the ‘Black Widow’, was convicted of paying € 300,000 (£ 240,000) to a hitman to assassinate Maurizio, 46, heir to the fashion empire, in 1995 .
Reggiani eventually hired hitman Benedetto Ceraulo, an indebted pizzeria owner who shot Gucci on the steps of his Milan office as he arrived at work. Ceraulo was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison.
She was sentenced after her psychic and confidante Pina (Salma) became an informant and informed the police about the plot.

In the murder trial, which cut through Italy, Reggiani arrived every day wearing Gucci clothing and accessories from head to toe.
The court heard how she ordered the murder of her husband after he offered her $ 650,000 as part of a divorce settlement.
She was originally sentenced to 29 years in 1998, which was reduced to 26 on appeal. She served 18 years – with her ferret Bambi as a companion for part of the time – before being released in October 2014.
The character of Salma Pina, meanwhile, was sentenced to 25 years for allegedly organizing the murder in the amount of around £ 250,000. His sentence was reduced to 19 years on appeal.
The Gucci Empire
Gucci’s fashion empire was founded in 1921 by Guccio Gucci, a Florentine leather goods manufacturer whose business selling leather travel bags flourished after the Depression and World War II.
Guccio’s son, Aldo, expanded the business to Paris, New York and Tokyo, as the ‘G twins’ of the surname became a global fashion icon.
In 1974, the Gucci empire had 14 stores and 46 franchised stores around the world.
Around the same time, celebrities like Jackie Kennedy were helping to make Gucci the world’s leading fashion brand by adopting its products.
Maurizio Gucci, Guccio’s grandson and Aldo’s nephew, took control of the company from the board of directors after Aldo, who was sent to prison for tax evasion in 1986 at the age of 81.
However, Maurizio would be the last member of the family to run the Gucci business.
By 1989, nearly 50 percent of the company had been acquired by Investcorp, a group of investment bankers who were looking for shares in the company.
In 1993, Maurizio sold his stake for $ 170 million to a Bahrain-based investment firm.
Pina had struggled with her debts herself and claimed that “ in a moment of weakness ” she gave in to her friend’s demands to find a hitman.
Patrizia claimed that Pina hired the hitman without his permission and then blackmailed him after the murder.
Pina, who now has something to do with her old friend, previously told The Sun: ‘I have great remorse even though I was not actively involved in organizing the murder. ”
Italy24News reports that Pina was released from prison in 2010, after serving around 13 years of her sentence.
The film is slated for release on November 24, 2021.
