On September 28, Bitcoin mining operator and clean technology company, SAI Tech, announced the launch of two liquid-cooled Bitcoin mining infrastructure products called Tankbox and Rackbox. Both new models join the company’s SAIHUB box and feature both plate cooling and immersion cooling technologies.
SAI Tech Unveils Tankbox and Rackbox Bitcoin Mining Infrastructure Products
As cryptocurrency mining continues to improve the efficiency of application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and mining infrastructure technologies, SAI Tech (Nasdaq: SAI) has announced the release of two mining modules. mining infrastructure that take advantage of liquid cooling systems.
The first is the Tankbox, which can accommodate around 72 to 144 ASIC mining rigs and produce between 12 and 20 petahash per second (PH/s) of hashrate. Tankbox will be available to the public by the end of 2022 and the module is “equipped with a heat recovery system and can provide a hot water flow of around 50°C”.
SAI Tech also introduced the Rackbox, a module that can accommodate 90 Microbt Whatsminer ASIC mining rigs with liquid cooling technology. According to SAI Tech’s announcement, the Rackbox can accommodate the Microbt Whatsminer series M33S+, M33S++ and M53 models.
The Rackbox allows miners to overclock and underclock ASIC mining machines and can achieve around 24-26 PH/s per container. Without overclocking, the Rackbox can deliver around 18-20 PH/s, SAI Tech’s summary of the two product notes.
“Rackbox helps mining operators grow profits through the bitcoin cycle by reducing downside risk in the down market and earning excess return in the up market,” SAI Tech’s announcement details on Wednesday. “In addition, Rackbox is capable of recovering waste heat and can provide hot water at around 60°C. Rackbox is expected to launch in Q1 2023.”
SAI Tech Founder and CEO Arthur Lee explained that the containers additionally provide a waste heat recovery system. “Tankbox and Rackbox are compatible with all air-cooled and liquid-cooled miners on the market thanks to our unique waste heat recovery capability,” Lee said in a statement during the announcement.
Lee added:
[Launching] these two new products further demonstrate our deep, industry-leading expertise in liquid cooling and waste heat recovery, bring exciting news to the bitcoin mining industry, and effectively enable the sustainable future of bitcoin. bitcoin mining infrastructure.
SAI Tech’s new products are pre-engineered and resemble a 20ft storage container with integrated components. Featured items include mining drill cabinets, power control and water circulation system. The company notes that the Tankbox and Rackbox modules are ideal for “using idle energy such as flared gas.” Following Wednesday’s announcement, shares of SAI Tech have jumped 1.14% against the US dollar in the past 24 hours.
SAI Tech is not the only mining company to offer mining container devices. At the end of June, Bitdeer announced the launch of the company’s Antbox or Deerbox plug-and-play mobile mining farm modules. Bitdeer’s product was originally a Bitmain product but the design was assigned to Bitdeer following Bitmain’s restructuring. A single Bitdeer Deerbox module can house up to 180 Bitmain Antminer S19 mining drill units.
