Fast forward four years and that moment is only four months away, with Garcia set to turn 26 in August of this year.

However, ahead of his fight against Devin Haney, live on talkSPORT on Saturday night, he has now made a U-turn and wants to continue fighting.

“No, no, things have changed in my mind,” Garcia told talkSPORT.com.

“But I think I’ll be finished by 30 p.m.

“I’ll make money anyway, even if I don’t box.

“Even if I retired today, I would still make a million dollars sooner or later.

“For me, money isn’t really a motivator.

“I’ve always had money, money chases me.

“When I was a kid, I was obviously broke, but when you’re not afraid of money, money flows.

“I’m not afraid of money, I don’t worry about money, it just comes to me.

“So I’m going to box because I have a bigger purpose in boxing and what it does for my purpose in life.

“I’m going to keep doing it, that’s where I’m at.”

In the four years before his new scheduled retirement date, Garcia has four names he wants retired.

In naming his hit list, Garcia said: “Teofimo Lopez, Shakur Stevenson and the Gervonta Davis rematch.

“But I also want to do Sean O’Malley as an MMA crossover.

“That would break UFC PPV records.

“It’s going to be in the cage, I have no other way to do it than to end up in the cage confronting Sean O’Malley and ripping his head off.

“I don’t want a package, I just want a percentage of the PPVs, that’s all.”

Devin Haney vs. Ryan Garcia will be live on talkSPORT starting at 4 a.m. Sunday morning.
