Here’s a look at the cold, dirty reality of the Russian-Ukrainian war.
In a scene straight out of “All Quiet on the Western Front”, shocking images posted on social media Media reports on Saturday show at least four Ukrainian soldiers stationed in muddy trenches, braving brutally cold elements as they wait for the enemy invader.
Two of the four are in makeshift living quarters created with debris covering part of the trenched area, as rifles and empty water bottles lay in the muddy waters nearby. Other areas are covered in patches of snow.

One of the soldiers is lying on a plank to protect himself from the cold mud, while another is heard coughing nearby.
The 20-second video released by the Operational Armed Forces of Ukraine does not make it clear who these men are or when the video took place, but many wished them luck after checking the footage.
“Stay strong, stay alert. Victory will be so much sweeter,” tweeted a follower.
“I’m sorry you warriors have to put up with this,” another person tweeted. “I’m just glad you all seem to have better clothes than some [Russian] pictures that I have seen. I still hope you heroes stay warm. Thanks for all you’ve done. Ukraine will win.
