RUMOR: Marvel Studios Wants BLACK ADAM Star Dwayne "The rock" Johnson to play X-MEN villain Apocalypse – CBM (comic book film)

The rise of social media has led to an increase in the number of “scoopers” sharing insider information. Many of them have no more credibility than your average Reddit commenter, but there are also those with solid track records.

@MyTimeToShineH (for the most part) falls into the latter category, and whether you want to attribute that to lucky guesses or legitimate sources, they’ve had more hits than misses in recent years.

However, we find this last statement hard to believe. Again, strange things happened!

Apparently, Black Adam Star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is on Marvel Studios’ radar to play En Sabah Nur, aka Apocalypse. We would assume it’s for the next X-Men reboot, although it’s possible he’ll play a variation of the villain in one of the upcoming Avengers films showing as many of the original X-Men are expected to appear.

Physically, Johnson certainly looks the part and could play a convincing Apocalypse that doesn’t come to life with Thanos-style motion capture. He’s also a big star who desperately needs a win.

As we recently reportedThe Rock’s return to WWE is believed to be part of a plan to keep him relevant after a series of high-profile failures (Black Adam, Young Rockand the difficulties of the XFL). Now in his fifties, Johnson seems keen to avoid the fate of other action stars who have gone from A-List to direct-to-DVD fare.

Along with his return to WWE, he has a starring role in A24. The smashing machine and put aside his differences with Vin Diesel to return to Fast franchise. Bouncing back with an MCU movie makes sense, even if it means not getting the same level of creative control he had Black Adam.

Either way, we advise you to take this with a grain of salt for now.

Apocalypse was created by writer Louise Simonson and artist Jackson Guice, first appearing in X Factor #5 in 1986. The former mutant believes in the concept of “survival of the fittest” and his desire to bring about the evolution of the mutant species by any means necessary, often through destructive and genocidal methods.

He considers himself a god-like figure and seeks to impose his vision of mutant supremacy on the world and has assembled various groups of mutant disciples, known as the “Four Horsemen”, to further his goals. Oscar Isaac previously played the villain in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse.
