The NFL hasn’t released the full 2020 regular season schedule yet, but there are already tea leaves read when it comes to who will play where and when. We now know that Arizona Cardinals to welcome visiting team to host club in Mexico, but the prime-time openers are still very much to be won, and Kansas City chefs are a logical choice for landing in one of these places. They are the reigning Super Bowl champions, after all, and crowds of NFL fans will clamor to see them and Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes will take the field to open the season.
While nothing is yet official, the Kansas City Royals essentially hint at the strong possibility that chefs will get the green light as one of two teams to play at the opening Thursday night in 2020 – bringing already a change to their MLB calendar to accommodate the possibility / likelihood. They were originally scheduled to face Oakland Athletics on Thursday, September 10, but not anymore.
The dates of the series have been brought forward a bit.
“Today, the Royals are announcing a schedule change in the series against Oakland Athletics in September to welcome the Kansas City Chiefs who may open at home at Arrowhead Stadium on Thursday September 10, “the Royals said in their statement. ” The Oakland series, which was scheduled to take place from September 7 to 10, will now end on September 9. “
The Royals have also indicated that their season ticket holders will be able to exchange tickets, if necessary, from the end of March.
The two teams having a match on Thursday would have been less than ideal, given that the stadiums are located side by side, which opens the way to enormous parking problems, at a minimum. With the Royals’ decision, the NFL is free to allocate Thursday night’s game to the Chiefs – knowing they can avoid what happened in 2013 when reigning champion Baltimore Ravens had to open the season on the road thanks to the Baltimore Orioles having a match scheduled for the same day.
The league will release the 2020 regular season schedule in April, but it looks like we will see all the chefs on September 10.
