Roy Keane believes Harry Kane may be distracted by transfer rumors regarding his future.
The Tottenham striker has reportedly wanted to leave the club this summer in search of silverware and has been linked with a money transfer to Man City.
Despite scoring 28 goals in all competitions last season, Kane has yet to open his account for England at Euro 2020.
The 27-year-old had no significant impact against Croatia and Scotland.
Speaking to ITV, Keane wondered if Kane’s mind was elsewhere.
He said: “Before the competition there was talk of him leaving Spurs.
“Maybe he got distracted by it because it can be an energy zapper.”
“If you are thinking of changing clubs or if you are in negotiations with other clubs, it is not useful.
Despite Kane’s poor form, former England left-back Stuart Pearce insists the Three Lions captain is unbeatable.
He told talkSPORT: “If Harry Kane doesn’t make it in this tournament and score, England’s fortunes are lost when it comes to going all the way. Absolutely.
“Gareth will take the players to train who have not played [against Scotland]. He will be sitting down with his coaches decoding the game and saying, ‘How do we get the most out of Harry? “
“He’s a world-class player. There will be a clamor for his signing this summer and someone will pay north of £ 100million for him due to his goalscoring record.
“So is that to give him a partner up front and what would that be like for the rest of the squad?” “
