Roy Hodgson has emerged as the big favorite to be named Watford’s new manager after the dismissal of Claudio Ranieri on Monday.
There is still work to be done on the deal but talkSPORT sources say the former England boss could be unveiled at Vicarage Road as early as Tuesday.
Hodgson set to take over from Ranieri at Vicarage Road, according to talkSPORT
Hodgson, who led England from 2012 to 2016, was the last in the Crystal Palace dugout before leaving the club in 2021.
The 74-year-old had a legendary management career spanning over 50 years, where he was in the dugout at huge clubs such as Inter Milan, Blackburn Rovers, Fulham and Liverpool.
Ranieri signed a two-year contract at Vicarage Road in October, replacing Xisco Munoz in 15th, after taking seven points from his first seven Premier League games.
But the Italian only managed to double that points tally in his 13 top flight appearances in charge and was sacked by Watford after 112 days.
The Hornets languish in 19th place in the Premier League and sit just two points above last-placed Burnley, who have two games in hand at the Hertfordshire side.
And Hodgson, who was replaced by Patrick Vieira in 2021 after four years at Palace, would be enthusiastic about the task of leading the Hornets to survival.
