Ronan Farrow supports his sister’s allegations against their father

Woody Allen’s son Ronan Farrow attacked his own publisher about his intention to publish his father’s memoirs.

The journalist, whose Catch and Kill was published by Hachette, said he was “disappointed” to learn that the firm would publish Allen’s autobiography.

Farrow’s sister Dylan, who claims to have been assaulted by Allen in 1992 at the age of seven, called Hachette’s decision “heartbreaking” and “betrayal”.

Hachette defended his decision to publish Allen’s Apropos of Nothing.

“We don’t allow anyone to interfere with anyone’s publishing program,” said Michael Pietsch, CEO of the US publisher.

Allen has always denied assaulting Dylan Farrow, claiming that she was trained to make the claim by her ex-partner, actress Mia Farrow.

The filmmaker was investigated into the allegations of abuse at the time of the incident, but was never charged.

Dylan Farrow, now 34, reiterated his allegation in 2014, prompting further denial from his adoptive father.

A number of actors have since publicly distanced themselves from the Oscar-winning director, who has struggled to get his films distributed in recent years.

Ronan Farrow was one of the first journalists to write about the allegations of sexual assault against Harvey Weinstein.

Catch and Kill, his book on his investigations of the film producer, was published by Little, Brown – a division of Hachette – in October 2019.

Allen’s autobiography – described as “a full account of his life, both personal and professional” – will be published on April 7 by another brand, Grand Central.

Write on Twitter, Ronan Farrow claimed that Hachette had “hidden” his plans to acquire Allen’s memories while he was working on his book.

He said his sister was not contacted by the publisher and that he “encouraged” the company “to do a thorough fact check on the account of Woody Allen”.

In his own Twitter statement, Dylan Farrow said she had not been contacted by any fact-checker and accused Hachette of “a blatant abdication of [its] most basic responsibility. “

Actress Rose McGowan, one of Weinstein’s most vocal accusers, called Hachette’s decision to publish the memoirs “an evil double cross“.
