Roger Federer is 20 times Grand Slam champion. Robert De Niro is a two-time Oscar winner.
When these two team up for a commercial, it’s nothing short of spectacular.
The collaboration was for a Swiss tourist ad, which saw Federer make an offer to De Niro that was hard to refuse. But Hollywood legend does it nonetheless.
Beware of their ironic exchange.
A nice joke between an improbable duo, the end is funny
De Niro tells Federer that Switzerland might be beautiful, but he’s not impressed.
He says the country is “too beautiful and perfect” and lacks “drama”.
The tennis icon, who is the Swiss Tourism ambassador, tries to coax De Niro into visiting him, while the actor releases an unexpected F-bomb.
De Niro continues to disagree and later suggests Tom Hanks name.
“Who?” Federer asks, and the announcement ends.
Watch the ad below; Will Hanks say yes?
Federer is a De Niro fan, just like us!
Federer said Condé Nast Traveler, “I am a big fan of his [De Niro’s] so I couldn’t believe he said yes to the countryside. ”
Speaking of Switzerland, he added: “I live in the mountains, so I love the summer as much as the winters, because we have [something like] 65,000 kilometers of hiking trails in Switzerland and it’s amazing for cycling too. ”
As expected, netizens loved the ad, especially Federer’s game
After the tennis star took to social media to promote the campaign, one Twitter user applauded his acting.
Federer joked, “Top Oscar favorite?”
Many Internet users have even asked him about his debut in Hollywood.
One person said, “Hey, they need a new James Bond.”
But hey, the ad brought together the best of sports and Hollywood, so it was expected to be a hit anyway.
