Celebrity photographer Ellen von Unwerth has unveiled a new exhibition featuring extremely provocative photographs of stars including Rihanna, Kate Moss and Demi Moore posing nearly nude.
The German snapper – who has photographed for magazines like Vogue, Vanity Fair, Playboy, ID and The Face among others over the years – is presenting the collection, called The Provocateur, at Staley-Wise Gallery in New York.
The sultry images, many of which have “never been seen before”, were taken throughout her decades-long career and feature a slew of famous faces flaunting their stunning figures.
One photo, taken in 2014, shows Rihanna standing topless, wearing only white briefs, in the shower.
The 36-year-old singer holds her underwear open and sprays water on her lower body while covering her chest with her arm.
Another, shot in 1995, shows Kate, 50, looking seductively at the camera, shirtless.
She has a towel wrapped around her waist and her hands placed on her breasts for the sake of modesty.
A third photo, from 2004, shows model Elle Macpherson sitting on the toilet, wearing only her birthday suit.
The model, now 60, is speechless in shock as she holds a roll of toilet paper to her chest.
Another photo shows actress Demi, 61, reclining on a sofa in lingerie and fishnet tights while a man places a mask over her face in a snap taken in 1996.
And one from 2005 shows Catwoman alum Zoë Kravitz leaning over a bowl with a black mask.
Other stars featured in the alluring gallery include David Bowie, Karl Lagerfeld, Christy Turlington, Linda Evangelista and Cara Delevingne.
“The photographs reflect a liberated and irrepressible engagement with her subjects that the photographer has championed throughout her career,” reads the description.
“These exhibition images reflect a flashing provocateur. He’s not so much the object of lust as the playful instigator – both innocent and wicked.
“Although eroticism is at the forefront of many of these images, fantasy and humor unite von Unwerth’s vision of his subjects simply having fun – with each other and with the viewer they are teasing, taunt and provoke.”
Other shots show various models dancing naked on a table and lifting their tops to display their breasts.
In another photo, a woman is seen pulling down another’s skirt to show her thong underneath.
Another shows Christy and Linda lying on deck chairs in Cannes in 1990, their legs intertwined.
And one image shows two Playboy bunnies looking in a mirror and applying makeup, butts front and center.
“I know what it’s like to feel really uncomfortable, so I do everything in my power to make them feel comfortable – and to live, laugh and move “, Ellen said of the exhibition.
Ellen began her career as a model after being spotted at the age of 20 while walking down the street in Germany.
She then turned to photography after a thriving seven-year modeling career.
In 1989, she was thrust into the spotlight after taking photos of the young Claudia Schiffler.
In addition to fashion photoshoots and magazine covers, she has also done numerous album covers for artists like Christina Aguilera, Dido, Britney Spears, Rihanna, and Janet Jackson.
