Barbados ushered in a new era on Monday after removing the Queen’s 55-year tenure as head of state and becoming the world’s new republic.

And Rihanna was on hand to witness the historic moment when Inaugural President Dame Sandra Mason was sworn in at a ceremony led by Prince Charles in the Caribbean island’s capital, Bridgetown.

The pop star’s entrepreneur-turned billionaire was among many dignitaries, including the Prince of Wales, in attendance for Tuesday’s ceremony.

Being the world famous fashionista, the founder of Fenty Beauty caused a sensation, wearing an orange dress that hugs her curves perfectly.

Apparently bra-less in the striking number, she also wore a pair of matching strappy heels and had her raven braids topped with chunky braids.

It was the Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Mottley, who bestowed on her this honor by referring to one of her hit songs.

“May you continue to shine like a diamond and honor your nation by your works, by your actions,” the Prime Minister told Rihanna, in a nod to her 2012 chart-topping single, Diamonds.

Rihanna is the second woman in Barbadian history to receive the honor of national hero after religious leader Sarah Ann Gill, who died in 1866, according to RT.

She is also just one of Barbados’ two living national heroes, the other being 85-year-old cricketer Sir Garfield Sobers who received the title in 1998.

With the recognition of National Hero of Barbados, Rihanna receives the full title of The Right Excellent Robyn Rihanna Fenty for life.

Prior to this latest honor, the Break It Off star had served as Barbados’ Ambassador since September 2018.

Although Rihanna took her big leap into music and saw her career take off in the United States, she was born and raised in St. Michael’s Parish in Barbados, where she was discovered by producers from the American music industry.
