Review of “Eternal Sunshine”: Ariana Grande’s 7th studio album – The Watchdog

Ariana Grande’s Eternal sun opens with a question: “How do I know if I’m in the right relationship?” » A story of love once found and lost, this album carries its own grief with maturity and consideration – showing restraint, where lingering pain often seeks a response.

Eternal sun is a concept album that is both confessional and observant. It is a recognition of the fear that prevented him from living in his truth. The healing in this album comes through its many tangled emotions that all lead to the same conclusion. This follows Grande’s reluctance and urge to move out of the ruins of her past and into the present – while still allowing her honesty and compassion to co-exist.

In Eternal sun, Grande is stripped of her public persona to reveal a portrait of vulnerability beneath – before trying on her narrative as a costume, in the tracks “True Story” and “The Boy Is Mine”. The album seamlessly blends R&B, house and pop elements throughout its journey. Its title track hinges on the desire to feel painless, as Grande attempts to erase her memories – one of the album’s many references to the 2004 film, Eternal sunshine of the impeccable mind.

The journey of heartbreaks and new beginnings in this album is not linear and struggles to find resolution – but Eternal sun finally discovers an answer to his central question. Featured on the latest track “Ordinary Things,” Nonna de Grande educates listeners on how to recognize the right relationship or place to be in. Eternal sun gives an intimate insight into the end of Grande’s world – which allowed her to truly understand and honor herself.
