Patriots quarterback Mac Jones was scheduled to be rushed to the locker room after Sunday’s loss to the Ravens. He appeared very unwell.
A report shortly after the match indicated that Jones’ left ankle x-rays were negative.
But NFL Media’s Mike Giardi is now reporting that the Patriots fear Jones has “tendon and/or ligament injuries” in his ankle, which X-rays would not show.
Jones will undergo further medical tests on Monday to determine the extent of the injury.
He was 22 of 32 for 321 yards and three interceptions on Sunday. The third of his picks came on the same play that led to his ankle injury, which was the Patriots’ last offensive play with 1:55 left.
It’s the second time in three weeks that Jones has been injured in a game. He had back spasms in the Patriots’ season opener against the Dolphins. Sunday’s injury, however, appears to be more serious.
