AC Milan are now ready to accept the obligation to buy defender Japhet Tanganga from Tottenham Hotspur.

Negotiations are underway over a potential deal to loan the Englishman to the Italian champions before the end of the transfer window.

Italian outlet Calcio Mercato said further contacts had now taken place over the potential deal.

Tottenham want an obligation to buy but Milan have so far been reluctant to accept it, but there are signs they are preparing for it.

Tanganga could join Milan with an obligation to buy

Milan are ready to have an obligation if certain conditions and targets are met in a deal worth €23-25m (£19.2-21m) in total.

Joe Rodon was also loaned out by Spurs this week, with Antonio Conte preferring his young defenders to get regular playing time elsewhere on the face of it.

The report states that Tanganga is close to the top of Milan’s wish list and it looks like the clubs could be closing in on a deal that suits everyone.

Tanganga burst onto the Spurs scene under Jose Mourinho but is now finding plenty of competition for a spot at right-back.

There may be more possibilities for him to enter the team as a centre-back, especially now that Rodon has left to join Rennes.

But he could also try to emulate Fikayo Tomori, who left London rivals Chelsea to join Milan and is now a strong contender for England’s 2022 World Cup squad.
