Arsenal believe Mykhaylo Mudryk wants to sign for them – but manager Mikel Arteta has yet to decide whether to act.
That’s according to transfer insider Ben Jacobs, who spoke to Give Me Sport.
Jacobs says Arsenal strongly believe Shakhtar Donetsk wide man Mudryk wants a January move to Emirates Stadium.
However, Arteta is reportedly still undecided on a move meaning it’s not a sure thing for the Gunners.
Arteta allegedly likes Mudryk but thinks Shakhar’s price tag is quite steep – especially with Mudryk not immediately considered a first-team starter.
Mudryk has hinted he wants to move to Arsenal
Mudryk has been linked with Arsenal for months now.
Speaking to Vlada Sedan – the wife of Arsenal star Oleksandr Zinchenko – Mudryk admitted he would love to play with Zinchenko and would rather start for Arsenal than be a bench player at Real Madrid.
Mudryk also claimed to follow Arsenal’s results and style of play as he was stunned by the number of messages sent by Arsenal fans urging him to join.
All these comments hinted that Mudryk was keen on a move to Arsenal, but Shakhtar should earn a lot of money.
Mudryk is so exciting on the ball, especially when given space to run over defenders on the counterattack.
The Champions League Twitter account published that Mudryk was timed as the fastest player in the Champions League group stage.
The 21-year-old appears to be a huge talent and that pace would suit this Arsenal side well.
Still, Arsenal need to think about value here.
The Gunners need a midfielder and maybe even another striker now that Gabriel Jesus is injured at the World Cup.
Spending at least £40million – and probably much more – on Mudryk, who could start as cover for Gabriel Martinelli, may not be what Arteta wants to do in January.
We’d love to see Mudryk in an Arsenal shirt soon, but it all hinges on Arteta’s decision.
