According to Fabrizio Romano, David Raum is now close to signing for RB Leipzig after holding talks with West Ham.
What is the story?
Well, it’s been said that the Hammers have held talks with the Germany international over a move to the London Stadium.
West Ham have been asked to pay £33million for Raum, who shone for TSG Hoffenheim last season in what was a standout campaign from left-back, mainly from an attacking perspective.
The 24-year-old scored three goals, while providing an impressive 13 assists, in 32 Bundesliga appearances last season, which now looks set to take him to the Champions League.
Romano believes RB Leipzig – who finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season – are in advanced talks to sign Raum, with negotiations now in the final stages.
It won’t be music to the ears of David Moyes, who is surely starting to get a bit frustrated after also missing out on Jesse Lingard at Nottingham Forest.
Raum will now undergo a medical with RB Leipzig, before putting pen to paper on his contract.
The news will also be a blow to Newcastle as the German was also a target for Eddie Howe.
West Ham set to pursue ideal alternative to David Raum
In our opinion, West Ham should react to the news about Raum by making a move for Filip Kostic.
The Serbia international enjoyed a tremendous 2021/22 campaign as a left-back for Eintracht Frankfurt, winning the Europa League by scoring seven goals while providing 15 assists.
Interestingly, the East Londoners have actually been linked with a move for the 29-year-old.
Moyes will face competition from Tottenham, who are also Kostic admirers, but if the Irons act quickly we believe a deal is possible.
Make sure to keep an eye on West Ham as we expect them to be busy in the final month of the window.
