Newcastle United transfer target Mykhaylo Mudryk is keen to join Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, according to CBS Sports reporter Ben Jacobs in GiveMeSport.
Jacobs said Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mudryk was keen on a move to Arsenal despite interest from the Gunners’ Premier League rivals Newcastle.
The well-known and respected journalist added that Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans is also keen on a move to Arsenal.
Earlier this month, The Athletic reported that Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain all wanted to sign Mudryk.
Mykhaylo Mudryk wants Arsenal, not Newcastle
Jacobs told GiveMeSport: “Newcastle are definitely not favorites for Mudryk, who have their hearts on Arsenal, much like Tielemans have their hearts on Arsenal. But, with Tielemans and Mudryk, Arsenal just didn’t offer at this stage.
Could a transfer take place?
In our opinion, if Mykhaylo Mudryk wants to join Arsenal and not Newcastle United, then the Gunners can secure the services of the Ukraine international winger, as long as they pay what Shakhtar Donetsk want for him.
According Ukrainian journalist Viktor VatskoMudryk has a €150m (£130m) release clause in his contract.
Now, we don’t think Arsenal will be willing or able to pay that kind of money for a 21-year-old, but Shakhtar could ask for a little less.
Mudryk has scored seven goals in 11 Ukrainian Premier League starts and has three goals and two assists in six UEFA Champions League appearances for Shakhtar this season.
