Bayern Munich’s heartwarming and well-deserved victory against Arsenal FC was accompanied by a wave of records for the Rekordmeister – which means we’re back with another edition of the Rekordmeister Records!

Long-awaited triumph

Believe it or not, Bayern Munich’s win over Arsenal was their first home Champions League quarter-final victory since 2016.

The victory also meant it would be the first time since 2019/20 that Bayern had advanced to the last four in Europe, following three consecutive years of going from last 16 to quarter-finals. This has been a long time coming.

Thomas Tuchel, the record holder

Since Tuchel has been at Bayern, he has certainly broken a few records, both positive and negative. The match against Arsenal, however, was more positive for the manager as he became the first German manager to reach the semi-finals of the Champions League with three different teams: PSG, Chelsea FC and now Bayern Munich.

It is worth mentioning, however, that although he has previously played in Germany, notably at Borussia Dortmund, Bayern are the first German team he has taken to this stage of the Champions League.

Never too much Manu clean sheets

Manuel Neuer recorded his 58th Champions League clean sheet against Arsenal, putting him ahead of Iker Casillas as the goalkeeper with the most clean sheets in UCL history.

This is a new record. Or rather a Neue(r) record?
