The Washington Redskins will enter a new era in 2020. Ron Rivera replaced Jay Gruden, owner Dan Snyder is reported to have taken a back seat when it comes to decision making and the Redskins may have fixed the quarterback situation. Rivera’s first order of business will be to guide his new team during the off-season. The Redskins have already released several veterans who have been with Washington for several years, but which new players will the Redskins target in free agency? Which players will they target during the NFL 2020 draft?
There are also problems to be cleaned up internally – from revisiting with an important player who held out all season long to the evaluation of free agents without restriction to sign again. There’s a lot of work to do every time a new coaching staff takes over from any NFL franchise, but getting it on the right foot is of utmost importance to Rivera and Co.
As we cross the off-season, this center will serve as a starting point for everything related to the Redskins. We will have all the important dates, free agency dashboards, content project, latest rumors and news about what’s going on in Washington.
Key dates to come
- March 10: Deadline for NFL teams to place the franchise or transition label on a player.
- March 16: The NFL legal forgery period begins. Free agency may not start for a few days, but it is a time when teams can contact and start contract negotiations with players.
- March 18: The new championship year officially begins at 4 p.m. AND. Free agent signatures in the NFL will be flagged before that, but they won’t become official until 4 p.m. AND March 18.
- March 29 to April 1: The annual NFL meeting in Palm Beach, Florida, takes place.
- Half April: The NFL will release the 2020 regular season schedule.

Brantley is the restricted free agent to watch. He seemed to be making great strides as a reserve lineman before the 2019 season, but played in one game before a foot injury forced him to injure himself. Where exactly does he stand with the Redskins defense now with Rivera at the helm?
Restricted free agents must be submitted by Washington to be listed in 2020. The Redskins may assign a number of different offers to their restricted free agents (initial tender, second round tender , first round tender). , etc). Each offer is accompanied by a higher 2020 salary. These figures have not yet been determined by the NFL.

There can be major changes that occur along the offensive line this offseason. While attacking striker Trent Williams is not listed as a free agent, he could as well be. The seven-time Pro Bowler held all last season because of the team management of a recent medical situation. In short, Williams had a rare type of cancer when the team doctors told him that growth on his head was not to be feared. Now that the medical staff have been replaced and Rivera is the new head coach, it looks like the scene is set for Williams’ return. He will, however, want a new contract, which means the Redskins may have to trade it. Check out the latest news below, as this is a topic we will be writing on the offseason. While Williams’ situation is on hold, Scherff’s future is also unknown. The Redskins would like to sign it for a long-term extension, but nothing has materialized at this point. It seems likely that it will be labeled duty-free. Flowers, another beginner offensive lineman, could also hit free will. Although he could still be considered a first round bust, he certainly played better on offense than in tackle. Rivera will have to decide if the Redskins want to continue the experiment. Keeping the attacking side of the ball, you have to wonder what the future of Thompson has in store for us. He was an excellent receiver outside the field when he was in good health, and Rivera could use it the same way he did with Christian McCaffrey in Carolina. Thompson, of course, is not the player McCaffrey is, but he is effective as a catcher.
Regarding the defensive side of the ball, Bostic will be an interesting name to follow. As he turns 29 this off season, linebacker proved to be a valuable addition to the Redskins in 2019. He recorded a career high of 105 combined tackles from linebacker and replaced Reuben Foster, who dropped out with an injury season ending the last season. Washington will also have to make some decisions around the corner. Josh Norman and Quinton Dunbar would have no future in the air, so the cornerback should be a position the Redskins will tackle during the off-season. Rodgers-Cromartie’s return from retirement was uneventful as he played in just two games before ending up on the injured reserve. He will be 34 this offseason, so Rivera will have to decide if he wants to keep the veteran fast. Besides, what will happen with Colvin? The Redskins recovered from his release by the Houston Texans last season, and he registered 10 combined tackles and a defensive assist in six games.
