Realme is now making its own version of the popular Apple MagSafe. This time, the device is finally accessible to Android users.
Apple MagSafe technology with iPhone 12 compatibility
According to the developers at XDA, Apple’s MagSafe wireless charger works by being attached to the back of the iPhone 12 series using magnets. This makes it ridiculously very easy for users to line up their own phone with the charger’s wireless charging coils.
Apple had also just released another MagSafe portable battery. This would make it very easy for users to place the pack on the back of their own phone in order to get a quick charge while they are on the move. Apple warned of issues with the iPhone 12 upgrade that had a direct effect on MagSafe warming up and limiting its charge.
Android Qi wireless charging
While a number of Android phones support Qi wireless charging, and some can even connect directly to Apple MagSafe chargers, it has been a long time since anyone has seen Android smartphone makers launch their own magnetic chargers without. thread, just like Apple did.
Everything, however, could still change very soon as it looks like Realme is still working on creating a new magnetic wireless charger called MagDart. Realme had also recently obtained a trademark for MagDart directly from the European Union Intellectual Property Office.
Realme MagDart combines MagSafe and Dart Charge
This was the biggest clue that Realme is working on its own version of magnetic wireless charging technology. MagDart, currently appears to be a combination of MagSafe and Dart Charge. Dart Charge is Realme’s umbrella term for the company’s various fast charging solutions.
GizmoChina was able to get renderings showing at least two different variations of the Realme MagDart loader. One of them would have looked thinner than the other and it seems that the thinnest one supports 15W wireless charging at its minimum.

MagDart fast charge
GizmoChina also notes that the washer-shaped charger is a bit thinner than Apple’s MagSafe charger. The larger charging station, on the other hand, has charging speeds to compete with other modern wired fast charging technologies. There was, however, a lack of details coming from GizmoChina.
A grid is also visible under the USB-C port of said charging station, which is also presumed for some form of airflow in order to control the thermals of the charger. At the moment, the release date of MagDart is still unknown, but it will most likely be unveiled alongside perhaps a new Android smartphone that directly supports the magnetic wireless charger.
It could be quite similar to what Apple did when it launched the MagSafe with the iPhone 12. The introduction of Realme MagDart could actually become a milestone for Android. This is especially if it can compete directly with modern fast charging technology. It could also pave the way for a possible MagDart power bank if Realme chooses to explore further.
