Real Madrid are planning a new bid to sign Manchester United goalkeeper David de Gea this summer.
According to The Sun, Zinedine Zidane is a great admirer of the Spaniard and wants him to replace Thibaut Courtois in his starting lineup.
De Gea, 29, has been linked to a move to the La Liga giants for several seasons and was on the verge of signing for Los Blancos in 2015 if not for a faulty fax machine.
It is believed that United would charge around £ 70m for the glover after signing a new exceptional deal worth £ 375,000 a week last September.
Despite Courtois’ improved performance this season, Real are still looking for a new goalkeeper and it is believed that De Gea is keen to return to his home country.
De Gea’s form has been called into question recently after his latest high-level error in the Red Devils’ 1-1 draw at Everton last weekend.
There are suggestions that the Old Trafford hierarchy would be ready to part with their top-notch goalkeeper and cash De Gea, who joined the Atletico Madrid club in 2011.
Dean Henderson, the young glover on loan to Sheffield United, has dazzled this season and is considered the long-term replacement of De Gea between the sticks.
He could even return to Old Trafford this summer to become United’s new No. 1 for the 2020/21 season, with De Gea leaving for Spain with a big money transfer.
