UEFA has suspended its disciplinary investigation into Real Madrid, Barcelona and Juventus following a warning from a Swiss court.
The trio looked to be severely punished for their role in the European Super League breakaway plot.
It could have seen them banned from the Champions League next season – but all penalties have been suspended.
UEFA confirmed in a statement on Wednesday that it would try to restart the procedure in due course.
He said: “Following the initiation of disciplinary proceedings against Barcelona, Juventus and Real Madrid for a potential violation of UEFA’s legal framework in the framework of the so-called ‘Super League’ project, the body of UEFA’s appeal decided to stay the proceedings until further notice.
“UEFA understands why disciplinary proceedings should be suspended for now, but remain confident and will continue to defend their position in all relevant jurisdictions.
“UEFA will take all necessary measures in strict compliance with national and European law so that the UEFA appeal body is able to resume disciplinary proceedings as soon as possible.”
Earlier this week, reports in Spain detailed a warning from the Swiss Justice Ministry against Nyon-based UEFA taking action against the trio.
Those involved claim that a court ruling in Madrid legitimized ESL’s offer and that the judge responsible would seek the European Court of Justice to back the judgment.
There is a fear that anti-monopoly laws mean that any sanction is revoked on appeal.
Nonetheless, UEFA has already secured an apology and slashed cash prizes for the other nine clubs involved in the April debacle.

The six Premier League clubs, as well as Inter Milan, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid have all officially apologized and agreed to a 5% price reduction for next season – worth 6 million of pounds sterling.
Manchester United, Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City settled the issue with the Prem on Wednesday.
Each club will be fined £ 3.6million for their role in the plot – with an additional £ 25million and 30 points lost if they start over.
