Ray Parlor reveals he’s part of Invincibles WhatsApp group with Arsenal legends Thierry Henry, Patrick Vieira and Robert Pires, and how they message fan diagnosed with cancer

Ray Parlor has revealed to talkSPORT how he is part of an Invincibles WhatsApp group and the Arsenal legends plan to hold a reunion later this year.

There still seems to be plenty of banter between the Gunners greats, even almost 20 years after their unbeaten Premier League season – but, as well as keeping in touch, they also used their group to send a young fan a very special.

With Arsenal’s famed Invincibles squad now spread across the globe, Parlor said they have created a new WhatsApp group to ensure former teammates stay connected.

“I’m lucky to be in this WhatsApp group now with all the boys,” the talkSPORT Breakfast co-host said.

“We will all meet around November – I don’t know where yet, but I hope in London!

“The problem we have now with all of us ex-players is that they now live all over the world. Some in Portugal, some in France, some in Ibiza.

When asked who the most active member of the group was, Ray revealed, “Oh Jens [Lehmann] is still on it.

“He invited me to Oktoberfest and I was tempted to go, to be fair. It would be a lot of fun, wouldn’t it.

“Thierry is there too, Robert Pires… I can’t wait to see the guys.

But Parlor said the best thing about the band wasn’t chatting with their old friends, it’s something they were all encouraged to do by Invincibles captain Patrick Vieira, who helped cheer them up a sick fan’s day.

“The good thing about it, Patrick Vieira sent a message to say he just met a young eight year old, he has a little problem, he has cancer,” Ray explained.

“So he asked us if anyone could do a message for him. And you know what? Everyone recorded a little message for him.

“So that’s the advantage of having a group discussion. Patrick said, “I’m going to talk to some of the guys, Thierry and Robert and all the guys,” so we all texted him.

“That’s the good side of footballers. In five minutes there were 15 messages from different players from different eras.

After all these years, it’s still a top-notch team.
