BALTIMORE — Quarterback Lamar Jackson has been ruled out for the second half of Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos with a knee injury as the Baltimore Ravens look to avoid getting riled up for a second straight week. .

Jackson was injured on the last play of the first quarter, when he was sacked from behind by Broncos linebacker Jonathon Cooper and landed awkwardly. After being assessed in the medical tent, Jackson walked without a limp to the locker room with medical staff early in the second quarter and was sent off early in the second half.

It’s the first time Jackson has missed snaps since last season, when he suffered an ankle injury in Week 14. The Ravens, who were 8-4 at the time, lost their last five games with Jackson sidelined and missed the playoffs.

This year, Jackson led Baltimore to a 7-4 record and the top of the AFC North.

Jackson came out after one of his toughest game starts. He was pressured by Denver on five of his six first-quarter losses, including two sacks. That 83% pressure rating was the highest Jackson had faced in his five-year NFL career.

The Ravens trailed the Broncos 6-3 at halftime. Baltimore is coming off a disappointing 28-27 loss at Jacksonville.

Tyler Huntley, replacing Jackson, is 1-3 as a starter in three years.

Jackson has recently struggled with injuries. He missed practice two weeks ago with a hip injury and was limited to practice last week with a quadriceps injury. Jackson has only missed four games due to injury in his career, all of them last season.

It’s been a critical season for Jackson, who is in his fifth option year and is not under contract for next year.

Injuries have been on the rise for the Baltimore offense all season. Left tackle Ronnie Stanley (ankle) missed his second straight game, leading running back JK Dobbins (knee) is on the injured list and No. 1 wide receiver Rashod Bateman (foot) is out for the season.
