Western reviewer The Harder They Fall has proven to be a hit with streaming audiences in the United States, debuting at No.1 according to Nielsen’s Weekly Review.
Featuring a star-studded, predominantly black cast, the audience for the film Jay-Z produced on Netflix was a hit among various streamers, with the audience the most multicultural (70%, of which 50% were African-American households) of all the first.
While The Harder They Fall was the most multicultural title to ever take No. 1, it ranks third this week in that regard, edged out by Colin in Black & White (75% multicultural, 50% African-American) and Narcos. : Mexico City (78% multicultural and 55% Hispanic).
For the first time, AppleTV + had two titles in Nielsen’s chart, while the premiere of Tom Hanks’ sci-fi film Finch placed 9th in the Film category, followed by Ted Lasso.
Meanwhile, Squid Game landed in fifth place overall and second behind Cocomelon on the achievements list. In another nod to American audiences exploring international headlines, Australian prison drama Wentworth edged out perennial favorites The Blacklist and Grey’s Anatomy.
