Rangers ‘face Champions League competition’ amid contract stalemate – Rangers News

Rangers are set to face competition from Nicolas Raskin from enviable Champions League side Club Brugge as four teams are named as suitors amid a contractual stalemate with Standard Liege .

The midfielder, 21, is out of contract at the end of the season and Rangers were linked with a late transfer of the player as the summer transfer window closed.

But with Glen Kamara hanging around, any potential move for Nicolas Raskin fell apart, with Standard Liege trying to convince the player to sign a new contract ever since.

Now Rangers are said to still have an iron in Raskin’s fire but they are not alone with Gers facing significant competition to sign the player.

Rangers face Champions League competition for Nicolas Raskin

According to a new report from today’s newspaperStandard are desperately pushing Raskin to make a decision one way or the other as the January window approaches.

The report also cites The evening as claiming that Rangers aren’t the only side interested in signing the Belgium U21 international.

Rangers have been named alongside Belgian champions Club Brugge, Serie A Spezia and Greek giants Olympiacos as being interested in Raskin and it’s all been an interesting few months for the player.

Club Brugge certainly represent an attractive option and Rangers can watch the Champions League outfit with envious eyes.

The Belgians have built an impressive squad based on a similar player-swap model that Rangers aspire to build and this season have qualified out of their Champions League group.

Rangers can look to Club Brugge for inspiration on the Champions League scene and given that Nicolas Raskin is Belgian, they potentially represent the biggest rivals to any Ibrox move for the player.

Meanwhile, a Rangers star has been impressed with the quality of one of his Chelsea-linked teammates.
