Ram is the latest major Detroit automaker to add an electric pickup truck to its internal combustion lineup. Or rather, it will be when the production version of the Ram 1500 Revolution BEV concept becomes reality. But before this can happen, we have to see the concept.
To hold you over until the concept launches, we’ve created an exclusive render based on the plethora of teaser images released by Ram over the past year. In fact, the most recent teaser from December 6 was instrumental in capturing some last-minute details for the front of our unofficial rendition. It’s important to note that we’re using some creative freedom here, as teasers so far have been sparse with content. But when the covers lift, we expect to see something like this.
What does it look like?

The very first sketches for 2021 showed a futuristic truck with a sloping C-pillar at the rear of the cab and narrow headlights mounted above a massive lower fascia at the front. The design has evolved since then, with headlights surrounded by daytime running LED strips that adopt a look similar to the current Ram 1500. Bold RAM branding amid a solid grille lights up, and while there’s no motor to power, the front of the truck should retain a beefy, chunky appearance.
Further back, heavily creased body lines will adorn the fenders and sides of the bed. The concept will feature small cameras for the side mirrors, and the most recent teaser showed black A-pillars with a black roof and a black hood dome. Similar to the Chevrolet Silverado EV, the cabin is more forward with a shorter front clip. The sloping C-pillar is still there, although the angle isn’t as steep.
What’s under the hood?
You won’t find a Hemi between the fenders, or any internal combustion engine. This space will likely be used for storage unless Ram has something interesting in mind. Given the utilitarian nature of the trucks, it’s extremely unlikely that Ram would simply shut it down like the Mercedes EQC.
Sure, under the hood is a reference to the powertrain and on that front there isn’t much to do other than it will be electric. A twin-motor layout is likely, although given Ram’s propensity for horsepower, a three-motor layout could also be offered. For comparison, the Ford F-150 Lightning develops up to 580 horsepower (433 kilowatts) and the Chevrolet Silverado EV reaches 754 horsepower (562 kW) in higher version. Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr. has previously said the Ram Revolution will outperform its competition in areas such as towing and hauling. As such, it’s reasonable to expect similar power outputs to Ford and Chevy EVs, if not more.
The Ram Revolution is rumored to use Stellantis’ STLA architecture. It’s a scalable platform that can accommodate batteries good enough for 500 miles of range. We haven’t heard anything about whether such batteries will be offered in the truck, but we do know that Ram is committed to filling it with all sorts of cutting-edge technology.
When will we see it?
Ram has confirmed that the 1500 Revolution BEV concept will make its debut on January 5, 2023 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. It’s being touted as a near-production concept, and while it’s unclear exactly when the production truck will arrive, Ram has mentioned 2024 numerous times.
How much will it cost?
When Ford launched the F-150 Lightning, the company touted a base price of less than $40,000, but that has since risen to nearly $50,000. The Silverado EV currently advertises a base price of around $40,000, though it tops $100,000 in RST trim. The illumination also reaches six figures in the maximum version. Ram is unlikely to mention price points when the concept debuts, but production trim levels are expected to be in line with its Crosstown rivals.
