Raiders owner responds to Tom Brady’s wild story about the QB who almost signed with Las Vegas

With Tom Brady returning to training on Monday after 11 days off, you’d think this is the Brady story everyone would be talking about this week, but instead there’s a crazier and it implies that the seven-time Super Bowl winner almost signed with the Raiders.

UFC President Dana White dropped a bombshell over the weekend when he revealed that Brady at the Raiders was almost a done deal in 2020 before Jon Gruden finally decided to call things off at the last second.

If anyone were to know how close that deal was, it should have been Raiders owner Mark Davis signing it. Davis was asked about the Brady speculation over the weekend and he basically did his best to dodge the question.

“I heard about (White’s comments),” Davis said, via the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “What was that – two or three years ago or something? I don’t know, man. Talk to Dana. I remember Tom Brady went to Tampa Bay. That’s basically what I’m wondering about. remember. I have no idea. Dana has the stories.”

If the Raiders didn’t go after Brady, you’d think Davis would just say “NO, we didn’t go after Brady”, but since he didn’t say that, it looks like White’s story has almost certainly a grain of truth. this. Davis had a chance to deny it all, but instead danced around the question.

White revealed details of the deal when he joined Rob Gronkowski for an interview at the first-ever UFC GronkCast on Saturday (Gronk and his family will apparently now be GronkCasting select UFC fights, so be on the lookout for that) .

“It was almost a done deal, and at the last minute Gruden blew the deal and said he didn’t want him, and all hell broke loose,” White said. ‘It was crazy. Brady was already looking at houses. It was not yet said that Gronk was coming. So Las Vegas would have had Brady and Gronk the year the Bucs won the Super Bowl, except Gruden blew the deal.”

As Davis said, White “has the stories,” so if White was the only source for this crazy story, most people would probably find it hard to believe, but Gronk actually confirmed the details.

“That’s exactly what happened,” Gronk said after White finished telling the story.

After the UFC fight was over, White was again asked about the Brady case and he explained that he never planned to tell the story, but Gronk was able to coax him on the GronkCast. .

“I didn’t want to talk about it, but (Gronkowski) kind of sucked me into live TV,” White said. “It’s true. I persuaded Brady to play for the Raiders, and Gronk was coming with him. They were negotiating the deal, and they were about to do it. Then Gruden pulled the deal, and Brady n “I wasn’t happy about it. Me neither. And that’s it. I own a dressing room (at Allegiant Stadium). I wanted Brady to play there, you know? But, yeah, that’s true. And I thought I I would never tell this story publicly, but I don’t. I don’t know what Gronk was doing tonight to get him to talk about it.”

The craziest part of it all is that it now looks like the Buccaneers were Brady’s FOURTH OPTION on his 2020 free agency tour. Based on reports from the last two years, it now looks like Brady was eyeing up the Dolphins, Raiders and 49ers before eventually signing with Tampa Bay.
