Rafael Leao nearly scored a career-defining goal, but found himself embarrassingly flat on the turf.
The AC Milan winger was a constant threat throughout the first half against Newcastle in the Champions League, but there was one opportunity he wouldn’t want to see again.

Played into space by Theo Hernandez in the 34th minute, he opted to take on Sean Longstaff inside the box and left the Magpies midfielder in his dust.
Just as everyone expected him to pull the trigger, Sven Botman arrived on the scene, but Leao left him for dead, before overtaking his former teammate Sandro Tonali.
But, just when Newcastle were in full panic and waiting for a shot, Leao opted for a backheel instead, which he completely blew, kicking across the turf and ending up on the ground.
Reacting to the opportunity on Twitter, one user wrote: “If Leao had scored that it would have been the goal of the season, wow.”

Another added: “Amazing. Rafael Leao could have scored the goal of the season there.”
The chance was one of Milan’s best in a shot-filled first half on Nick Pope’s goal.
However, the Magpies held on to keep the score at 0-0 at half-time, and Leao may regret his wasted opportunity.
