Radio and TV personality Jono Coleman laid to rest in private service in Sydney

A private funeral service was held in Sydney for beloved radio and television personality Jonathan ‘Jono’ Coleman on Thursday.

According to a Daily Telegraph report, Jono was buried by his wife Margot Fitzpatrick and their two children, Oscar and Emily.

Due to current COVID restrictions, the funeral was a small affair, with only 10 people allowed to attend.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Network 10 for comment.

Jono’s death devastated those in the media industry, especially those who had worked alongside him.

The 39-year-old grabbed a handkerchief and struggled to speak as she addressed viewers shortly after 8 a.m., before paying tribute to the late TV and radio legend.

Sarah, who had worked with Jono since Studio 10 launched in 2013, was also comforted by her co-hosts Beau Ryan and Tristan MacManus.

“It’s a very special show today, full of tears but definitely full of laughs too,” Tristan said at the start of the four-hour program.

Wiping away the tears, Sarah added: “Sorry I thought I would take the show further. [before crying]. It’s a tough day for everyone here at Studio 10.

“We lost our very beautiful companion on Friday night, Jono Coleman. He was an absolute legend of television and radio.

‘But more than that, he was just a handsome husband – he loved [his wife] Margot – he was a beautiful father, and he was our companion.

“Goodbye, Jono Coleman, our hearts are completely broken.

Studio 10 devoted Monday’s show to remembering Jono’s best moments.

While he was originally hired to host the show’s infomercials, Jono ended up becoming a full member of the team and was well known for his on-air pranks.

He was never afraid to dress up or make fun of himself, and even printed business cards describing his job title as “morale officer.”

Prior to joining Studio 10, Jono had a long career in television and radio in Australia and the UK.

He will be remembered by Britons for hosting shows on Virgin Radio, Heart and BBC London.

In addition to his work for Channel 10, Jono was employed as a regular reporter for Channel Seven’s Sunrise Breakfast in the mid-2000s.

He died in Sydney on Friday at the age of 65 after a four-year battle with prostate cancer.

Jono is survived by his wife, Margot Fitzpatrick, and their children, Emily and Oscar.
