‘I didn’t know what to do with myself’: Countdown star Rachel Riley recalls the horrific moment she was groped backstage at work by a male fan
Rachel Riley has shared how she was once groped backstage at Countdown Studios by a male fan.
The math pro, 35, who is currently pregnant with her second child, admitted she “didn’t know what to do with myself” at the time as she recalled the shocking moment.
Speaking to The Sun, Rachel noted that the man and his wife were banned from the show after she denounced him for grabbing his butt backstage on the Channel 4 program.

She told the post: “This married couple came up to me and the lady said ‘oh my husband really likes looking at you, you mind if we…’ and he squeezed my ass.
“I didn’t know what to do with myself. I was a little shocked and stood back and they weren’t invited back into the audience.
The TV personality hinted that this was not an isolated incident adding, “You get the weird ass catcher.”

Elsewhere, Rachel recently opened up about how she had to change her look on the show after Channel 4 bosses tried to get her to dress like her own mother.
Speaking on the Complaints Welcome TV show, she explained, “I had to buy new clothes at one point.
“I just didn’t know what to wear and they were trying to dress me more like my mom at this point, everything had to be below the knee.”

Earlier this month, pregnant Rachel celebrated her last day of filming for Countdown as she went on maternity leave.
The star took to Instagram to share the news with fans, saying she had “officially finished filming to bring out a baby!” as she prepares to welcome her second child with her husband Pasha Kovalev.
The TV star shared a series of silly snaps with the show’s new host, Anne-Marie Imafidon, who will “keep the numbers in line” until Rachel returns next year.

Rachel also revealed that we will continue to see her on our TV screens until December, as some shows have been pre-recorded.
Rachel captioned the post, “Well that’s it for me, I’ve officially finished filming to bring a baby out!”
“You’re stuck with me onscreen until December when the totally amazing @notyouraverageami will keep the numbers online until I come back next year!”

Anne-Marie previously reprized Rachel’s role as an “arithmetician” on countdown day for Black to Front in September.
