Another change for the event was the schedule, as winners will be honored more than a month after the Academy Awards ceremony, marking a break from the usual pre-Oscars schedule.
Although it’s not broadcast, the evening’s West Coast event, with more than 800 attendees, is “still produced like a big-budget TV show, with lots of cameras and production value.” , producer Hugh Fink told Variety.
The West Coast Party will team up with the WGA East Coast Dinner, led by writer-performer Josh Gondelman, to seamlessly coordinate announcements and avoid any potential spoilers, according to Fink.

“Writers as a group obviously have a different mentality than directors or actors, and they are super intelligent but somewhat cynical and sarcastic,” he added.
Niecy kicked off the show by addressing the WGA strike.
“We fought for equal pay, equal voice and our rights to get to the end of a 10-episode season,” Nash-Betts said.

The original Oscar-winning screenplay, Anatomy of a Fall by Justine Triet and Arthur Harari, was not eligible for similar honors from the WGA.
