Qatar Foundation Global Health Initiative Launches New Competitions for Innovators

The Spark competition is aimed at entrepreneurs who seek to solve healthcare challenges by developing and validating an evolving project – usually innovations or start-ups at an early stage. The Booster competition targets exciting innovations that seek to evolve and develop.

The competitions are open to local and international candidates, aligned with WISH’s mission to build a healthier world through global collaboration. Applicants will need to meet certain specific criteria, such as the market need for the proposed innovation and its potential for sustainable future growth.

The shortlisted innovations will be presented to world renowned health experts, policy makers and potential investors at the next WISH 2020 summit, to be held in Doha of November 16-18, and will also benefit from additional support which includes mentoring, media promotion, training sessions to help market ideas and one-on-one meetings with potential investors.

Mahmoud El Achi, Chief Innovation Officer at WISH, said: “We have revamped existing WISH innovation contests and removed previous age restrictions to broaden the scope of applicants. This year we are excited to hear about innovations that promote sustainability while having an impact. ”

“After evaluating previous WISH innovation contests, we identified the need to provide more mentorship support and advice to innovators with innovative ideas, and to provide the tools and contacts for more established innovations in order to reach their potential. ”

Through its new competitions, WISH aims to promote a wide range of health innovations that may include devices, applications, innovative delivery models, design-based solutions and business models aimed at improving quality medical care while reducing the cost of worrying.

Shortlisted winners from both competitions will be announced September 2020. To learn more and apply, visit https://www.wish.org.qa/innovationaward/
