The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” governs both graphics, and Roddy gets Riccher.
In the second quarter of 2020, Sony / ATV Music Publishing topped the publishers’ Top Radio Airplay and Hot 100 song charts with market shares of 20.11% and 20.18%, respectively. This marks the No.1 publisher’s 11th consecutive ranking on the radio tally – which he has led for 31 of the last 32 quarters – this time with shares in 58 of the 100 songs on the list.
From April through July, The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” was No. 1 on both charts. Among writers, Rodrick Wayne Moore Jr., better known as Roddy Ricch, topped the Hot 100 with co-writes on five songs, including DaBaby’s “Rockstar” (# 5) and his own “The Box. »(N ° 6). In the ongoing back-and-forth for the Hot 100 publisher rankings, Sony / ATV edged out UMPG, the leader of last quarter, with 20.18% to 20.03% shares respectively. This is Sony / ATV’s fourth win in the chart since its debut in Q1 2019, this time with starring in 54 songs, including Megan Thee Stallion’s “Savage” with Beyoncé (# 2).
UMPG had a share of more Hot 100 songs than any other publisher, with 58 including “Blinding Lights.” (That’s an increase from the 54 songs in the previous quarter.) But the company fell from second to third in the broadcast radio rankings with a 17.85% share, up from 18.58% in the last quarter. last quarter, although the total number of leads was up from 52 to 55.
On the Top Radio Airplay list of publishers, Kobalt’s market share increased three percentage points from last quarter, to 19.04%, with 45 songs listed, including “Blinding Lights”. That was enough to overtake UMPG for No.2 – his ninth time in the spot since 2012. On the publisher’s Hot 100 ranking, Kobalt’s market share fell to 17.09%, from 17.94% on previous quarter, for third place.
Warner Chappell Music – which also had a stake in “Blinding Lights” – placed fourth in the Top Radio Airplay (14.70%) and Hot 100 (15.09%) charts. Once again, the company topped the Country Airplay publisher rankings with a 21.44% share, its 14th consecutive quarter in decision.
BMG ranked fifth on both charts with an 8.38% share on Top Airplay songs and 7.53% on Hot 100, where it improved its market share for the fourth consecutive quarter. Her flagship song was “Don’t Start Now” by Dua Lipa (# 3, Top Airplay Songs; # 7, Hot 100).
On the rest of the charts, Big Machine Music placed sixth (with a share of 2.98%), Round Hill Music seventh (2.94%), Pulse Music eighth (2.48%), peermusic ninth (1 , 67%) and Downtown Music tenth (1.51%).
