An extra-time goal from Luuk de Jong puts PSV Eindhoven into the final qualifying round for this year’s Champions League competition, where they face Glasgow Rangers.
PSV won the second leg against AS Monaco 3-2, putting them two games away from qualifying for Europe’s premier competition alongside Ajax Amsterdam. The two teams drew 1-1 in Monaco last week.
“That’s what you play for,” De Jong said after the match, in which Monaco had led most of the time. “If you believe in something, it can happen. It was a heavy game. Monaco were a good team, but we fought with the whole team.
This season, De Jong has joined PSV from Sevilla on a three-year deal. It’s been four years since PSV took part in the Champions League.
