A number of players have reported that PSN is currently down for them, and a quick look at Sony’s network status page suggests that there are connectivity issues. However, the company attributes the problem to “external” issues, while players claim that it is only on PSN that they are experiencing connection issues.
Is PSN down worldwide?
Reports of various PlayStation Network issues and errors first appeared 10 hours ago on social media and gaming forums like Reddit. Some gamers have reported having issues with PS Plus, others have reported receiving random error messages when trying to play games, and a few people have had issues with Sony’s online payment system when purchasing games and subscriptions.
Several regions appear to be affected. The US network’s status page currently states that “PlayStation Network services are operational, but there are external, internet-wide issues that may impact your experience.” Sony adds that once these mysterious external issues are resolved, “you should have no problem connecting to PlayStation Network.” Oddly enough, Sony claims that all of its services are operational regardless.
At the time of writing, the above message appears on the network status pages of several regions, including the UK. Unfortunately, there is currently no ETA for a resolution.
