Producer says it was Ryan Gosling’s idea to use Taylor Swift song for ‘The Fall Guy’ – Rural Radio Network

If you only know one thing about The guy who falls just in timethat’s probably it in a scene Ryan Goslingthe character sits in a car and cries listening Taylor Swiftthe song “All Too Well”. It turns out the filmmakers were going to use a different song, until Gosling intervened.

Producer Kelly McCormick tell Vanity Fair that The guy who falls just in timethe director, David Leitchwho is also her husband, originally had a song by the late singer-songwriter Harry Nilsson play in this scene. “But it seemed a bit melodramatic, in a bad way,” she says. McCormick says that around the same time, Gosling asked if they should try a Taylor song in the scene.

According to McCormick, her husband was against the idea until they went to see the Eras Tour. McCormick says David was blown away by Taylor’s performance of the 10-minute version of the song.

“The first time we filed it, we knew there was no going back and we would be really upset if we didn’t get it,” McCormick says.

Fortunately, according to McCormick, “Taylor is actually very open to sharing her music with film. We showed him what we had cut and there was no note. Fortunately, it… didn’t list at a price so far out of our budget that we couldn’t include it.

According to Vanity fair, Taylor has yet to see the film, but she praised the comic version from “All Too Well” that Gosling and co-star Emilie Blunt made on Saturday Night Live on April 13. On her Instagram Story at the time, she wrote: “Look at me accidentally catching myself singing this version on tour.”
