Prince Harry hacks case to find out if other claims are settled

Matthew Gill, a media lawyer at Howard Kennedy, told the BBC what he thought of today’s proceedings and what they meant in the wider context of this case.

He mainly talked about the issue of fees, which we discussed in our previous article, after the lawyers failed to agree on who should pay the legal fees.

Prince Harry believes MGN should pay his costs.

MGN, on the other hand, thinks Harry should pay part of its costs, Gill says, since it has only managed to prove that 15 of the 33 articles used as examples in the lawsuit were written with some form of information collected illegally – less than half.

“I suspect the judge will ultimately award Harry the majority, if not all, of the costs,” says Gill, “because he has proven that illegal information gathering was taking place at the Mirror – and that it was widespread.”
