Startups, listen up. Since this month, Halcyon has a brand new CEO: Daniel Barker.
Based in Georgetown, Halcyon’s programming includes an incubator, intensive fellowships and an angel investment network. Barker will oversee the incubator’s new startup class, which supports early-stage companies building social impact products and businesses.
Barker joins the team while serving as Vice President for Partnership Research at Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth. He also held positions at black rock and the Council on Foreign Relations and Earth Institute. But Halcyon noted that Barker first appeared on their radar as a management consultant at Deloitte, where he partnered with the incubator.
“For our team, it was great to see a candidate who not only knew how this program works, but who has worked directly with Halcyon Fellows in the past and kept an eye on us over the years to see where he could get hooked up”, co-founder and CEO Kate Goodall say it Washington Business Journal. “Dan’s work experience in different sectors and industries will be a fantastic resource for the Halcyon team and, more importantly, our colleagues.”
Halcyon has taken more than a few of our front-page hits over the past year, with Ryan Ross’ Departure, Dahna Goldstein intervene and the appointment of the new Chairman of the Board Marthe Metz.
