Kris Jenner officiated, as Ellen’s jaw dropped.
It may have been Portia de Rossi’s birthday party, but it was his wife Ellen DeGeneres who got the surprise of a lifetime at the event.
On Thursday, the couple shared video captured during Portia’s b-day celebration last Tuesday, showing de Rossi absolutely shocking his wife with an impromptu vow renewal ceremony… stepping out in the same dress she wore to the wedding of the duet in 2008.
The surprise came when Brandi Carlile performed “The First Time I Saw Your Face” at the party. As Portia entered the room in her dress, holding white roses, DeGeneres was clearly surprised by what was happening.
Expressing shock and exclaiming, “Oh my god!”, Ellen then joined his wife in front of the whole party – as Kris Jenner stepped in to officiate the ceremony.
“Welcome to Portia’s birthday party and the new home of one of my favorite couples, two of my pals and the record holders for the most homes purchased in a city,” Jenner joked. “These two were born for each other…these two are couple goals that continue to amaze me with their cuteness, a match made in heaven.”
“Two peas in a pod, their love and commitment to each other is incredible and it makes me so happy that they love, cherish and grow old with each other,” she added. “Today Portia would like us to see a renewal of her commitment to Ellen, to honor and celebrate their 14 year marriage.”
With that, Jenner passed the microphone to de Rossi, who exclaimed, “Surprise!” to his very surprised wife.

“You have nothing to say at all, but when I thought about what would make my birthday really special, it reminded you that you are the most important thing in the world to me, ahead of my family and friends,” said -she.
“I was thinking about my life, my accomplishments, and it all came back to you and I was thinking what greater accomplishment could I ever have in my life than to be loved by someone who is so beautiful, by someone ‘one as amazing as you,’ she continued. “Also, I feel like we’re on a new journey, it’s a new chapter, after 24 houses in 18 years — 24 in 18 years! — this is our first house, that’s it. , we’re finally settling down and putting down roots and taking care of each other more than ever.”
“I’m so excited for our future where we can do whatever we want for the rest of our lives,” she added, before congratulating her other half for accepting her “for exactly who I am.”

“It’s you, it always has been,” she concluded. “You lift me up when I’m down, you make me feel seen, you make me feel safe, darling, loved. I love you, I always will. I’m so honored to be your life .”
After kissing, DeGeneres was almost at a loss for words.
“I adore you, I love you and I wouldn’t be on this earth without you,” she told Portia. “You save me everyday. Thank you for saving me everyday. I’m the lucky one. Wow, everyone!”
Sharing the video of it all on Instagram, Ellen added, “Portia surprised me at her birthday party by renewing our vows. Thank you @KrisJenner for officiating and @BrandiCarlile for performing, and Portia for to have been the greatest gift to me, even on your birthday.”
