The Porsche 718 family has made great strides in performance since its debut, adding GTS and GT4/Spyder flat-six variants for the hardtop Cayman and convertible-top Boxster. And in 2023, it will get a visually similar match via the imaginatively named Style Editions. These new versions will arrive in European dealerships first before crossing the pond sometime next year.
The highlight of the package is the exclusive Ruby Star Neo paint, an almost violent fuchsia shade that serves as a complement to Porsche’s excellent Frozen Berry Metallic. Porsche says it’s a Ruby Star homage to the 964 Carrera RS, proving once again that the automaker’s rear catalog is home to exceptional exterior colors.
Joining the Style Edition are 20-inch wheels from the 718 Boxster Spyder, finished in gloss black as standard, although for our money the white finish is even more polished. To get that you need to opt for one of the contrast packs, which colors the rear badging and wheels black or white and adds an exaggerated stripe and matching traditional PORSCHE door decals. Black mid-exit exhausts complete the exterior aesthetic.
Inside, black upholstery is combined with standard Chalk contrast stitching, the embossed Porsche crest on the headrest and illuminated door sills. The standard equipment list is also a little more robust, with standard active front lighting, a sports exhaust system, heated front seats and front and rear parking sensors. Power, however, remains unchanged, with each styling edition fitted with the standard 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four from the 718. Output matches base models at 300 ponies and 280 lb-ft of torque. The 718 Style Editions are available with a dual-clutch gearbox or a six-speed manual gearbox.
Porsche is not yet sharing the prices, as the 718 Style Editions will arrive at dealerships in Europe early next year. The US arm of the automaker does not share the North American on-sale schedule beyond saying it will be in 2023.
