Our smartphones contain a ton of personal information, from photos and videos to financial apps, work emails, and more. But there may be times when you need to factory reset your device and restore that data or even start over.
Did you actually factory reset your current smartphone? That’s what we want to find out in our latest poll, so choose your answer below and leave a comment at the bottom of the page if you have more to say.
Have you factory reset your current phone yet?
A factory reset might be necessary if your phone is suffering from major bugs. And we have seen many cases of buggy system updates lately. You may also need to factory reset your phone if you install custom ROMs. Factory resets were also a way to recover some speed if the phone got bogged down over time, although that doesn’t seem to be as big an issue as it used to be.
Then again, there’s at least one reason why you might not want to factory reset your device. And that’s the fact that backing up and restoring data can be quite a pain. Android has improved its backup capabilities in recent years and a lot of our data resides in the cloud (eg contacts, emails, photos), but it’s still not a 100% perfect solution.
