Over the years, Taylor Swift rocked a number of different hairstyles, and we come back on a timeline of all the different things to do!
Taylor Swift, 30, was just a teenager when she started her career in the music industry. Of course, her whole look has undergone a major transformation over the years, but the most noticeable change from that point on is the singer’s hair. Throughout her career, Taylor has changed her hairstyle several times and she pulls off every look like a true pro.
Of course, during the early years of Taylor’s career, she was known for her signature curl curls. While most girls her age were obsessed with flat ironing their locks, Taylor kept her curls intact. There were subtle changes in the look throughout those early years – sometimes she had swept bangs across her forehead, while other times her bangs were developed to add more curls to her head – but the hair curly were definitely a staple of her look in the early days.
As Taylor started to grow taller, she started styling the curls into more sophisticated hairstyles. Sleek updos have become a staple for Taylor, even when she wears them with her street style. Often the hair was parted to the side and pulled back, with curls falling down the front or the side of her face.
In 2012, Taylor finally jumped aboard the Straight Haired Train. She cut some blunt bangs and got rid of the curls. Most of her looks during this time featured bangs directly across her forehead and her hairpin straight or in loose waves. At times she got a little more daring with the look, like at the 2013 American Music Awards (above). There, the bangs were much wispier, and her hair was tousled into a deliberately messy look.
In 2015, Taylor had cut her hair in a shorter style and managed to straighten it, while adding volume. In 2016, her hair was barely falling under her ears and she started adding little curls to it again. Of course, Taylor’s biggest fans will also remember that she dyed her hair bleached blonde in April 2016 and sported the platinum look for several months after that.
Taylor faded from the limelight in late 2016 and early 2017, and upon her return, her hair regained a curly look. She always had straight bangs, but she often wore her hair in a sort of curly. On her Reputation shot in 2018, tighter, wet looking curls were her favorite look.
After that time, she added some pink to her hair and started styling it in lighter, looser waves. In the midst of coronavirus quarantine in 2020, however, she appears to have returned to her curly roots. With no hairdresser on hand, Taylor styled her own hair and we’ve seen her with super curly bangs on several occasions. Click the gallery above to see an evolution of Taylor’s hair over the years!
