Pep Guardiola has revealed that the Manchester derby is easier to prepare for than El Clasico which is ‘noisier’.
The Man City boss is preparing for a critical clash with Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, a contest that is sure to get fans’ hearts racing.
Fans around the world love nothing more than to outplay their rivals, and the week leading up to matches is full of debate.
But while Guardiola is confident City fans will be able to squeeze a good performance out of his side, he suggested preparations for the derby clashes are easier in England than they were in Spain when they were leading Barcelona against fierce rivals Real Madrid.
Speaking at his press conference, Guardiola said: “Go to the stadium and it’s important that we feel the pressure from them.
“Demand the best. We need them, I want them active. It’s not just a football game. We must demand the best from ourselves.
“The stadium will be full, the fans behind us, they know we will do our best.
“In Spain, Barcelona and Real Madrid it’s louder the previous days – more media, everything.
“The rest, in Germany, and here, you can work.
“We can’t be lazy. You need to express emotions and feelings, it’s important.
“Here [in the head] is the decisions before acting. Be calm and make the right decisions to be calm.
