Defender Pedro Porro is set to return to the Premier League and join Tottenham from Sporting Lisbon on deadline day.
After doubting the move would materialize, Spurs appear to have their deal back for Porro after agreeing a £40m fee, according to talkSPORT.
Porro’s move to Spurs is set to be completed today
The attacking full-back made a name for himself in Portugal after initially joining Sporting on loan in 2020 before signing a permanent contract last summer.
He was a key member of the club’s 2021 champion squad before being named in the league’s Team of the Season.
Porro’s form then continued last campaign as he was rewarded for his fine run and made Team of the Season for the second year in a row.
This season he is excelling once again, registering three goals and 11 assists in 26 games so far.
In total, the 23-year-old has made 67 appearances for Sporting and his performances have attracted plenty of interest from the Premier League.

Although he once had a spell in a top English team although he didn’t make a single appearance.
Porro was signed by Man City in 2019 but never played a game for Pep Guardiola’s side until leaving three years later.
And once he left the club for good, he revealed he never spoke with the manager during his time at Manchester.
Responding to claims he didn’t have a good relationship with Guardiola, he told A Bola: “No, I never spoke to Pep Guardiola.
“I don’t think he even knows they hired me [laughs]. But they must be aware of what I have done.
Porro is now set to reunite with his former boss when he lines up against him for Tottenham, with his move set to be completed on deadline day.

Tottenham’s Porro transfer saga had a happy ending for both club and player
His manager at Sporting Lisbon, Ruben Amorim, hailed his performance and admitted he was now “Antonio Conte’s son” with an imminent transfer.
Amorim said: “Our relationship is very close, he will be missed. In football you get used to change from an early age. One day they are our children, our best friends, and now he is the son of Tale.
“If we play against him, I already know his difficulties… my players are always the best in the world. Porro will be a player from another team and I wish them good luck.
“A player with Porro’s characteristics can’t be fixed, and that’s why they beat his clause.
“Looking at a player who is right-back and has so many goals and assists, we have to try to build another one, that’s what we’re going to do.”
This reaction from Amorim bodes well for Spurs looking to have a special young player on their hands who is what they need to improve.
