The CBS All Access platform recently evolved into Paramount Plus. If you are unsure whether to go for a subscription, this list will help you decide.
Paramount Plus has a plethora of movies. But here is the best of the lot.
The ring
It was the 2000s, and every Hollywood filmmaker was looking mad to adapt Japanese horror blockbusters for the West. The Ring was one of the best known examples of the phenomenon. The Ring is a movie that scares you and turns you on at the same time. It is very unusual entertainment. Despite a rather sympathetic PG-13 rating, the film is an absolute master class. The whole story revolves around a cursed VHS tape and the unfortunate ones who manage to peek at it. The main protagonist and the antagonist outdo everyone else with their acting skills. The Ring 2, fortunately, is not on Paramount Plus.

The aviator
Before Elon Musk, there was eccentric billionaire Howard Hughes. He had crazy ideas and went to great lengths to make them come true. The world was not ready for his ideas. Leonardo DiCaprio plays the eponymous character in Martin Scorsese’s incredible period drama. Scorsese manages to get caught up in all kinds of controversy these days. But if you can manage to look past that, you’ll find The Aviator surprisingly fun to watch.
Eddie Murphy Raw
Eddie Murphy is one of the greatest comedians of all time. Before he rose to fame as a comic book actor, Eddie Murphy Raw managed to show the world just how capable he was. The concert film is extremely hilarious. Eddie Murphy takes on a huge audience and his comedic timing blows everyone away. There are a few scenes that are not politically correct these days. But if you have thick enough skin, try this one. We assure you that Eddie Murphy Raw will not disappoint you.
The Indiana Jones franchise
The year 1981 saw the birth of a pop culture phenomenon. The Indiana Jones franchise began with Raiders of the Lost Ark. George Lucas and Steven Spielberg have joined forces to create one of the most successful film franchises in history. Harrison Ford plays a college professor specializing in archeology and mythology. He is also a globetrotting adventurer who goes on various missions to collect priceless artifacts of untold power. No matter how many times you watch Indiana Jones movies, you’re always surprised when the credits roll. And who could forget this epic theme song !!
Imitate
Miramax was known to have roughed up the film so notoriously that it literally killed a potential blockbuster franchise. Blessed by Guillermo del-Toro, Mimic had everything to succeed. There was an incredible script and crew. The main players included heavyweights like Josh Brolin, Norman Reedus and Mira Sorvino. Mimic takes us on a story where genetically engineered insects designed to kill cockroaches mutate and begin to mimic the appearance of their greatest enemy – humans. It gives us goosebumps every time we look at it despite its visual awkwardness.
Chinese district
Chinatown is one of the most critically acclaimed films ever made. It’s a mix of the neo-noir genre and suspense. With the work of now disgraced director Roman Polanski, it might get a little awkward for many to watch. For those who agree with Polanski, the story revolves around Jack Gittes, a private investigator hired by a mysterious woman who wants him to prove that her husband is cheating on her with another woman. It’s easy to tell that things certainly aren’t what they seem in Chinatown.
Sematary for pets
Ardent Stephen King fans adore the Stephen King literary work of the same name. And they would still prefer the original 1989 film to the questionable 2019 remake. The 1989 version of Pet Sematary looks old-fashioned now, but there are plenty of cleverly timed scares to tickle the daylights alive. this film always scares us because of its overly realistic storytelling technique. The plot revolves around a family who discovers a magical cemetery that can resuscitate the dead. But the resurrection comes at a terrible price.

The Mission Impossible franchise
Mission Impossible started out as a TV show. It was quickly adapted for a film starring Tom Cruise. The rest is history. Mission Impossible became the vehicle that brought Tom Cruise to global stardom. It turned him into a pop culture icon. Mission Impossible tells the story of Ethan Hunt, who works for the Impossible Mission Force aka the IMF, a secret organization involved in saving the Shadow World.
The big boss
The Big Boss is definitely not for everyone. If you are a fan of Chinese martial arts movies, you will love it. The Big Boss was one of the last projects Bruce Lee made before turning to Hollywood and creating the legendary Enter The Dragon. There are some impossible action sequences that Bruce Lee has vowed to never play on screen again. You can see him punching a hole in a man’s chest using just his fingers or leaving a man-shaped hole in a wall.
Minority report
Minority Report may not perform as well as Steven Spielberg’s other masterpieces. But it’s a film that has fascinated science fiction enthusiasts for years. The very concept is thought provoking. In the future, humanity has developed a way to predict crimes before they happen. The protagonist, who is part of the elite agency tasked with apprehending “criminals” before they commit the crime, is himself implicated in a murder. The film ultimately leaves audiences with a moral dilemma – when you have the ability to predict a crime before it happens, is the person who commits the crime in the future even guilty? The film also has some striking visuals and special effects to boot.
Zodiac
Before Jake Gyllenhaal, Mark Ruffalo, and Robert Downey Junior became the poster children of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, they starred in one of the greatest thrillers ever made. Zodiac focuses on the lives and times of three men, who become obsessed with discovering the true identity of the Zodiac Killer. David Fincher divides the film into several facets. There is no villain but the film always makes us feel the impending presence of a terrible evil that lurks in every scene.
